Jedną z ważnych postaci Kościoła katolickiego na Pomorzu był ks. Konstanty Damrot (1841–1895) – syn śląskiej ziemi, wybitny literat, wieloletni dyrektor katolickiego seminarium nauczycielskiego w Kościerzynie. Zachwycony pięknem dawnych Prus Królewskich, w 1886 r. wydał pozycję książkową zatytułowaną Szkice z ziemi i historyi Prus Królewskich, Jego zamiarem było nie tylko opisanie piękna nadmorskiej krainy, ale przede wszystkim obudzenie ducha polskiego w tamtejszych mieszkańcach. Poprzez słowo pisane chciał także spopularyzować historię i kulturę nadmorskiej krainy, przesiąkniętej polskością, zbudowaną na wierze katolickiej i rodzimej tradycji. After obtaining the status of free port under the Austrian administration (1719), Trieste was transformed into a rich cosmopolitan town of the Adriatic sea, in which conveyed German and Slavic peoples, and then some groups from the Mediterranean countries. The aim of this book is to focus on the development of national awareness elaborated around a series of different case studies, in which the terms nation, homeland and people have been applied. This Romantic lexicon identifies similar but various conceptions of the national idea in some countries dominated by Italian, German and Slavic cultures, and in some groups or minorities such as the Jews and the Vlachs in Central and Mediterranean Europe. Darba teorētisko bāzi veido sociālās atmiņas, nacionālās identitātes, rituālkomunikācijas, komemorācijas un mediju notikuma teorētiskās pieejas.
